Spottswood collaborates with academics and industry professionals to uncover how these technologies and tools can be used and designed to help people connect, learn, and work. As humans become increasingly dependent on communication technology and digital tools, it is important that research uncovers how people try to use these tools to accomplish their goals and come to know the world around them. Spottwood’s research interests focus on 1) how people use communication technology to develop and build their personal relationships, 2) how digital media impacts people personally and professionally, and 3) how usability issues impact educational and organizational success. This past weekend, we were with friends, some of whom wanted cannoli, so we sent them to Mike’s and stopped at Caffe Vittoria for gelato: But last fall, my parents and I ended up in the North End one cool afternoon, so we stopped in for some rich, creamy hot chocolate: We usually head to Mike’s Pastry after dinner for cannoli and call it a night. Rates are determined by certain factors, including loan amount, creditworthiness, loan-to-value (LTV), loan term, occupancy status, property type, loan purpose, property location, and lien position, so your rate could be higher. For example, if you select the 5yr/6mo ARM program your rate and principal & interest payment will be fixed for the first 5 years (the 5 in 5yr/6mo), after that the interest rate and payment could change every 6 months for the remainder of the mortgage's term (the 6 in 5yr/6mo). Rates and payments will remain the same for the first 5, 7, or 10 years and then can adjust to a new rate and payment every 6 months based on a current index, depending on the ARM program you choose. ✚RM loans are variable rate loans, interest rates and payments may increase after consummation. In this first step, data is extracted from different data sources. We’ll go into greater depth for all three steps below. In an ETL process, data is first extracted from a source, transformed, and then loaded into a target data platform. If you don’t talk about the benefits and drawbacks of systems, how can you expect to improve them? How ETL works It’s important to talk about ETL and understand how it works, where it provides value, and how it can hold people back. The same transformations can occur in both ETL and ELT workflows, the primary difference is when (inside or outside the primary ETL workflow) and where the data is transformed (ETL platform/BI tool/data warehouse). In many ways, the ETL workflow could have been renamed the ETLT workflow, because a considerable portion of meaningful data transformations happen outside the data pipeline. In ETL workflows, much of the meaningful data transformation occurs outside this primary pipeline in a downstream business intelligence (BI) platform.ĮTL is contrasted with the newer ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) workflow, where transformation occurs after data has been loaded into the target data warehouse. This ELT process can be repeated for other sources of data, allowing us to integrate and transform multiple datasets into a centralized data store.ETL, or “Extract, Transform, Load”, is the process of first extracting data from a data source, transforming it, and then loading it into a target data warehouse. In this example, we used Pandas to extract data from a CSV file, load it into a SQLite database, and then join it with customer data to enrich the dataset. merge (orders_df, customers_df, on = 'customer_id' ) print (enriched_df ) read_sql_query ( 'SELECT * FROM customers', conn ) # Join orders and customers dataĮnriched_df = pd. # Extract customer data from databaseĬustomers_df = pd. For example, we might want to join the orders data with customer data to get more insights. Transform: Finally, we transform the data as needed. to_sql ( 'customers', conn, if_exists = 'replace', index = False ) to_sql ( 'orders', conn, if_exists = 'replace', index = False )Ĭustomers_df. connect ( 'my_database.db' ) # Load data into database In this case, we'll use a SQLite database. Load: Next, we load the data into our data store. read_csv ( 'orders.csv' )Ĭustomers_df = pd. For this example, let's assume we have a CSV file containing customer orders. Given two input files of customers.csv and orders.csv as follows: customer_id,name,total_ordersĮxtract: We start by extracting data from our source systems. Please note that you need to have the necessary Python libraries installed in your Python environment to run the code: Here's an example of an ELT process in Python using the Pandas library and SQLite3. The ELT process is similar to the more traditional ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process, but with a key difference: data is extracted from source systems and loaded directly into a data store, where it can then be transformed.ĭagster provides many integrations with common ETL/ELT tools. ELT stands for Extract, Load, Transform, and is a process used in modern data pipelines for integrating and transforming data from various sources into a centralized data store. You can also do this using Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 (or later). PDFSimpli can do this online with no additional downloads.
Upon raiding Kirschner’s residence, the FBI says it found a much larger stockpile of gamer girl uranium than expected. “Our experts on the ground in North Korea have confirmed that King Jong-Un specifically requested that the uranium be ‘extra kawaii,’” Alden added. This is consistent with financial records we retrieved which indicate that Kim Jong-Un himself was a majority purchaser of her ‘gamer girl bath water’ last July.” “Based on our initial investigation, we believe that North Korean officials set up this sale not only to acquire the uranium, but more importantly for the purpose of meeting Kirschner in person. “We have taken Kirschner into custody for her conspiracy to sell nuclear supplies to North Korea,” said FBI spokesperson John Alden in a prepared statement. #UPDATE on Belle Delphine arrest: MetCC, the Met Police twitter, responded saying they didnt recognize the watermark in Belle's mugshotReverse image search also turned up nothing, so this means it a pic only she has, but it has a watermark & Met police dont recognize the mark - The FBI confirmed today that viral internet celebrity Mary-Belle Kirschner, better known as Belle Delphine, has been taken into custody for her attempt to sell gamer girl uranium to the North Korean government. On October 8th, Twitter user tweeted screenshots of presented as a direct message conversation with the official Metropolitan Police Twitter account, who claimed they did not recognize the watermark seen in Delphine's mugshot (shown below). In the United Kingdom, police mugshots do not have watermarks and are not publicly released until the person is charged. The tweet gained over 25,200 retweets and 123,200 likes in one day.Īs of October 8th, 2019, no news outlets were able to confirm that Belle Delphine was arrested. Photographs attached to the tweet showed a screenshot of the conversation between Delphine and an unknown individual and two images of a white car painted with an image of Clown Pepe holding a gun and a writing which read "Bitch! Give me my hamster back" (shown below). On October 7th, 2019, Delphine claimed that she was arrested due to spray painting a car of her party guest who had allegedly stolen her hamster. Shortly after, the mugshot photo was submitted to the /r/teenagers subreddit in a post titled "Belle delphine was arrested lmao." Meanwhile, graffiti artist posted a tweet asking "Should I paint the mugshot?" (shown below). Within one hour, the tweet received more than 12,400 likes and 1,900 retweets. On October 6th, the news site Dexerto published an article about the podcast titled "H3h3 shares the craziest theory behind Belle Delphine's 'disappearance'." On October 7th, 2019, Delphine tweeted "I got arrested lol," followed by what appears to be a mugshot taken by the Metropolitan Police in London, England (shown below). This unification results in a significantly higher level of realism and removes creative barriers for those wanting pyrotechnics that impact their scenes in general. It is also possible to add these Pyro tags to particle emitters which makes it possible to create explosions, smoke trails and fireworks.Įverything being unified means that simulations can be created using multiple different object types, even when they are built of different simulation characteristics. Users can enjoy setting anything they want on fire. It doesn’t matter if the object is a piece of cloth or a soft body, every object is supported. This means that any object can emit pyro effects such as fire or smoke. It is all driven by new Pyro tags which can be added to any object in the scene. This new functionality enables animators to fine-tune and direct simulations to a degree that was never before possible in Cinema 4D. It shouldn’t matter whether different objects have different simulation properties and now it doesn’t. It lays the foundation for bringing all types of objects together so that they can interact with each other just like they would do in the real-world. I think a significant amount of work will be carried out in this area across the industry in the years to come and this is a good start. One of my frustrations with 3D software, in general, is that the experience of interacting with and animating objects doesn’t feel entirely intuitive. This means that solid objects are now able to interact with all types of simulation including pyro, cloth, and soft bodies. Rigid Body Simulations have finally been added into the Unified Simulation System. René Aigner's The Procession is a beautiful use of Cinema 4D. Recent developments and releases have seen significant improvements with rigid body simulations and pyro. We have some Cinema 4D tutorials to help get you up and running with this and more areas of C4D. Since 2006, MoGraph has provided industry standard tools for the motion graphics community. Cinema 4D: must know tools and featuresĬinema 4D is a powerhouse that contains a diverse range of tools and features that enable artists and creatives to produce whatever they put their mind to. ❌ Better VFX alternatives The likes of BlackMagic Fusion provide far superior VFX tools than Cinema 4D's built-in offering. This may be true in some cases but it's also worth noting that every 3D software requires a level of complexity due to the fact that it contains so much functionality. ❌ Steep learning curve Some users report Cinema 4D as being difficult to learn. ❌ Cheaper alternatives Cinema 4D isn't the cheapest possibility and if you really are up against it in terms of budget then you'll be able to use Blender for free. ✅ Photo-realistic rendering with RedShift This plugin renderer lets you create beautiful images and videos in super fast time. ✅ Amazing Simulation tools Through Rigid Body Simulations artists can enable solid objects to interact with all types of simulation including pyro, cloth, and soft bodies. ✅ Incredible Motion Graphics Tools Cinema4D's MoGraph gives artists the tools to clone and add effects to objects. This is a realistic render of old radio equipment created by artist René Aigner. Through camera matching and scene recreation, Cinema 4D has been used by many studios to deliver in this area. Film VFX This isn't Cinema 4D's strongest offering but that doesn't mean it isn't able to deliver some fantastic results in the area of VFX.Their partnership with Adobe further strengthens what is possible with this digital content creator. Augmented and virtual reality Cinema 4D has a wide range of tools that enable artists to deliver in this expanding sector.Redshift is a GPU renderer developed by Maxon that offers unparalleled rendering speeds. Architectural & product visualisation When paired with Redshift or any production ready renderer, artists are able to turn their 3D designs into something visually amazing. The software has been used on TV, film, and in advertising. Through its award winning MoGraph, users can create stunning motion graphics at broadcast quality. Motion graphics This is what Cinema 4D is best known for. What began life as a simple ray tracer has evolved into one of the industry's strongest digital content creators and is used by artists all over the world. If you're looking for an alternative to Unreal Engine 5 for a specific project or non-real time rendering, Cinema 4D is a good option for many studios. In Cinema 4D's two decades of development, it has been utilised across pretty much every creative industry and provided the necessary tools to deliver incredible motion graphics, 3D renderings, animations and simulations. This Bangladesh ship graveyard and slums scene was created in Cinema 4D by CG artist Forrest White. She occasionally seeks consolation from Arthur, using behaviour that could suggest that she is attracted to him. So in the meantime, Liz compensates by spending Robert's money and socialising with her equally rich, bored and unhappy friends. Wife of Robert, mother to Damien and Teonie, the long-suffering Liz ( Judy Morris) is well aware of her husband's affairs but finds it difficult to prove any of them, because of Robert's well-honed skill at covering them up. When Arthur asked him for a loan to buy a new car, all Robert would offer him was a seriously impaired Volvo at a discount. Robert loves to play tennis and golf, listening to classical music, and throughout the show owns a series of luxury cars: a Jaguar, Volvo and a BMW. He is a 'man of leisure' who is adept at providing excuses as to why it is Arthur and not he that must take the primary care of their elderly mother. His mother tells him off for his womanising and says that it is the reason he failed medical school, much to the disappointment of his late father. He does so by disguising his overseas holiday trysts as dental research conferences. Maggie frequently excoriates Arthur, labelling all his would-be girlfriends as "floozies", Arthur is nicknamed "Artie" by brother Robert.Įlder son of Maggie and Leo, brother of Arthur, husband to Liz and father of Damien and Teonie, Robert ( Henri Szeps) is a successful dentist who takes many holidays and has extramarital affairs. He drives a 1955 Morris Minor Series II Tourer convertible that is constantly breaking down, has trouble bringing female friends back to the house because of his mother's deliberate interference, and is almost always thwarted by Maggie whenever he attempts to socialize with his work friends. When he is not working, he is usually at home attending to the demands of his impish and increasingly confused mother. Younger son of Maggie and Leo, brother of Robert, uncle to Damien and Teonie and recent ex-husband of Deidre, Arthur ( Garry McDonald) is an editor and journalist for a newspaper. Maggie was a former nurse and met Leo while treating him for war wounds. However, despite being increasingly forgetful, Maggie is lucid enough to manipulate Arthur when she wants to, usually for something devilish that will seriously inconvenience him. Maggie is apparently in the early stages of some form of dementia and her younger son Arthur lives with and takes care of her. Maggie ( Ruth Cracknell), full name Margaret May Lapsley Beare, is the widow of World War II veteran Leo, mother of Robert and Arthur, sister to Lorna and grandmother to Damien and Teonie. Garry McDonald and Ruth Cracknell in character would appear in television adverts for Dynamo laundry liquid. The series itself became extremely popular and has screened in constant re-runs, particularly by Network Ten. The performance of Cracknell, a famous stage actress, as Maggie was particularly lauded as one of the finest characterisations on Australian television. Maggie's and Arthur's relationship was presented with a fascinating complexity-Maggie's cruel attacks on and emotional manipulation of Arthur disguised her deep dependence on and need of him, and Arthur's dutiful love of Maggie was constantly in conflict with his guilty frustration at the huge limitations for his own life which looking after his mother entailed. Despite its unlikely subject matter for a comedy, the show was a favourite with audiences. The plot of the show addresses the problems of ageing and caring for somebody with increasing memory loss, with an often sharp-edged humour which carried with it a tinge of sadness. Filming for the series began in Sydney in March 2023. In November 2022, it was announced the series would be given an eight-episode reboot with Denise Scott and Matt Okine playing Maggie and Arthur, respectively. Its theme song features the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, playing I Want a Girl (Just Like the Girl That Married Dear Old Dad), a jazz standard which was recorded by Al Jolson in the 1920s.Ī stage version of Mother and Son was written by Geoffrey Atherden and premiered at the Comedy Theatre, Melbourne, on 18 July 2014. It was created and written by Geoffrey Atherden. It featured many Australian actors of the time in guest roles. The show stars Ruth Cracknell, Garry McDonald, Henri Szeps and Judy Morris. Mother and Son is an Australian television sitcom that was broadcast on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) from 16 January 1984 until 21 March 1994. For other uses, see Mother and Son (disambiguation). For the 2023 reboot, see Mother and Son (2023 TV series). It should take around 4 hours to complete. Then, brush on 3 to 5 coats of the base coat, followed by the top coat, leaving time for it to dry in between coats. First, you have to clean whatever appliances you're painting, and tape off any parts you don't want to paint. It's super simple to use, and it only takes a few steps to transform your kitchen. If you decide to use my tutorial, I'd love to see or hear about your Midcentury styled house number projects - so make sure to leave me a comment below and add a picture so we can all see.The kit, which is available on Amazon, comes with one can of a liquid stainless steel base coat, another can of top coat, and a 2-inch MicroFoam brush. You'll need to touch up the drilled holes a bit with some stain (I should have done this before I slotted the numbers in, but a Q-tip worked well for the stain touch ups around the standoffs). I think these sized holes would still give you plenty of room for caulk and offer maybe a bit more stability. I found the holes to be a bit big - if I were to do this again, I'd drop the second bit size down to 15/64" or even 7/32". The instructions state that you drill a 1/8" pilot hole, followed by a 1/4" finishing hole, then place your silicone caulk in the holes, and drop your numbers in. the bit sizes recommended for drilling are a bit big. I marked each hole place, drilled one, aligned my number, checked my marks, drilled the next hole, checked my marks, etc. Each number has 3 stand-offs you'll need to drill for. I found that these were 'off' - my suggestion is to dry fit your numbers, then manually mark your holes. the templates supplied are a little 'off'.Įach number comes with a cardboard template which you use to determine where you're going to drill your holes. Now, these were easy to use, however, I do have a few comments to make about them: For about $6 a piece, these were a bargain! I wanted the modern look that these numbers from Rejuvenation give, but without the price tag. I used the stand-off or 'floating' MCM looking numbers from The Hillman Group (here's the Amazon link). This will ensure that you'll have enough space to accommodate your mounting screws when you go to hang it. When placing your key-hole hangers on the back of your board, add a washer or two as a spacer behind the hangers.
You can make the world map look better with custom graphics, that also work on the world map. On your first level, you start with 3 lives, which cannot be changed. Once you get into a game, you enter a world map, or a 'level world,’ which is a starting level where you can enter doors that lead to another level that require a certain amount of stars, and you can disable the world map completely. Some maps disable some characters, and others only allow one, which could cause a 2 player game to both be the same character. If you choose to start a game, you can choose the characters Peach, Mario, Luigi, Link, or Toad. You start off on the title screen where you can change the controls and other options. You can play someone else's world found online, or just using the default one that comes with the game. With playing sounds, you could hit a block, kill a monster, or talk to someone to make a certain sound. Moving, you can have rising water, a lava chase, or super fast elevators. With the ability to make blocks appear or disappear, you could make it so you have to kill monsters, hit a block, or talk to someone to make those blocks appear or disappear. You can use layers and events to make certain blocks appear or disappear, move at any speed, play a sound, change the background, or change the music. You can change the intro when you start the game to your liking, and even change the music! You can change the music! You put a ‘.MP3’ file into the level’s directory, and you have custom music in your level, which is really cool. The SMBX community has created graphic packs for all to use, and contain a lot of custom graphics the game doesn't have itself, and you can even make invisible blocks if you really need them. But, the best part is, you don't have to do any work. You can be very creative with this, like changing Bowser into another boss, or a Lakitu into a flying saucer. For example, you could change its speed, kill you when jumped on, immune to fireballs, and more. Other than changing the graphics, you can actually modify what the monster does. You can have custom blocks, custom monsters, and even modify the player, (etc. You can put your own ‘.GIF’ files into your levels directory, and you can make your levels look cooler than ever. In this game, you're not stuck with the default graphics. This is a very great game that is even better than Super Mario Maker because you have way more features than in Super Mario Maker that I will go through.Ī big one for this game is custom graphics. SMBX38A (sometimes called "1.4") is a new engine that resembles SMBX.Ģ.0 provides greater customisability and other benefits, while 38A provides (at the moment) more out-of-the-box NPCs and powerups.Super Mario Bros. Levels made in 2.0 are not compatible with 38A or 1.3 either, but it does guarantee compatibility with levels made in 1.3 due to being built on the same engine. Levels made in 1.3 CAN be converted to 38A's format, but the different physics doesn't guarantee complete compatibility. Levels made in SMBX38A are not compatible with 2.0, or 1.3. SMBX 2.0 is an extension by a new development team, built on top of Redigits original SMBX, but SMBX38A (sometimes called "1.4", but SMBX38A or 38A is often preferred to avoid confusion) is completely programmed from scratch. SMBX38A is a completely unrelated engine, with different backend, physics, and capabilities than SMBX. I am quite confused about so many version numbers. Does this version work WITH or separately from the 2.0 version? Lila M-3210 wrote:How do I go about treating one version or another?
